Recently I performed at a Bush Church Aid rally. It was a great night.
I loved hearing the stories of those in rural and remote communities who are loving and serving the people in these areas. I sang two songs of hope, with the desire to encourage those workers who might be there.
I then sang a new song called “Shelter”. The more I sing this song, the more I enjoy it. It makes me feel home – loved, warm, safe, and welcome.
I hope that when I record it that I can capture those feelings.
Ironically, it is a difficult song to sing as it is so gentle, so I have to work at really knowing it and owning the melodic line so that it never comes across as being a difficult. I hope that the people at the rally were encouraged, challenged, and even inspired. Maybe some of them may have had, even for a moment, a sense of being sheltered amongst a wider church family.
